Shiva Pradosham - Type and Benefits

Worshiping Shiva on Mondays, known as Soma Varuma, is particularly special. When Pradosha occurs on a different day, conducting Shiva Puja and visiting Shiva temples during this time can yield immense spiritual merit. This is especially beneficial for those with challenging placements of the Moon in their horoscopes, as it can improve not only their intellect (Mati) but also their understanding (Budhi).

Here are the 20 types of Pradosha:

Daily Pradosha: Observed daily from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM, this period is considered auspicious for worshiping Shiva. Regular observance for five years can lead to salvation.

Patsap Pradosha: This occurs on the 13th Tithi of the waxing crescent moon. It’s auspicious to worship the Bhatsilinga with a bird in Mylapore.

Masap Pradosha: This is on the 13th Tithi of the lunar month after the full moon. Worshiping the Panalinga during this time brings good results.

Nakshatra Pradosha: Worship corresponding to the Nakshatra on the Pradosha Tithi is performed during this period.

Poorna Pradosha: This occurs with only the Thirodasi Tithi and visiting the Swayambu Lingam yields significant benefits.

Divya Pradosha: When Duvadasi and Dryodasi or Dryodasi and Chaturdasi coincide, performing Abhisheka to Maragatha Lingeswarar can remove past evils.

Deepap Pradosha: This involves decorating temples with lamps and creating a sacred space at home for worship.

Abhayap Pradosha (Saptarishi Pradosha): This involves worshiping during specific months when the Saptarishi constellation is visible, granting blessings for those who perform it faithfully.

Maha Pradosha: Occurring on a Saturday during Kartika, this Pradosha is especially auspicious and should be observed at prominent Shiva temples.

Uttama Maha Pradosha: This special day falls on a Saturday during specific months and is considered highly beneficial.

Ekachara Pradosha: This once-a-year event encourages temple visits and reciting the Pranava mantra for significant spiritual rewards.

Ardhanaari Pradosha: When this occurs twice a year, it can help reunite couples who are living apart.

Trikarana Pradosha: Occurring three times a year, observing this can attract the blessings of Ashta Lakshmi.

Brahma Pradosha: With four Maha Pradosha in a year, proper worship can cleanse past sins.

Acsarab Pradosha: If five Maha Pradosha occur in a year, this practice helps atone for past mistakes.

Gandhap Pradosha: This occurs on a Saturday with Krittikai Nakshatra and offers blessings from Lord Muruga.

Satja Prabha Pradosha: When seven Maha Pradosha are observed, it can lead to liberation from the cycle of birth.

Ashta Dik Pradosha: Proper observance of eight Maha Pradosha rituals brings lasting prosperity and recognition.

Navagraha Pradosha: With nine Maha Pradosha, this rare event attracts blessings from Shiva and the nine planets.

Duttap Pradosha: The occurrence of ten Maha Pradosha in a year can cure congenital defects and bring about healing.

These various forms of Pradosha worship hold unique significance, offering a path to spiritual growth and the removal of obstacles in life.
